Brian Arman – “A Broad Gauge Journey from Paddington to Bristol via the South Wales Railway”
The first visit to the branch of the RCTS’s new President, a well-known expert in anything Great Western.
“I have been avidly interested in railways for as long as I can remember being fortunate enough to have Swindon Works on my doorstep so to speak. History has also always fascinated me, consequently a lifetime of study, research, collecting and writing – not to mention speaking – have enabled me to put together a large archive of early GWR material focusing on the Broad Gauge which is a special interest of mine.
The fruits of my labours are to be presented to you this evening, beginning at Paddington Station and working westward including a visit to South Wales all on the Broad Gauge and all but a very few images, photographs rather than lithographs or drawings.
So do come along and experience a unique opportunity to travel by B.G trains from Paddington to Bristol via Swindon, Gloucester, Swansea and Neyland. “
