Gerry Nichols (SLS) – “Another SLS/Alan Jarvis Evening of Photographs”

Gerry Nichols (SLS) – “Another SLS/Alan Jarvis Evening of Photographs”,
Wednesday 14th June 2017, The Old Church Rooms, Park Road, Radyr, CF15 8DF.

Alan Jarvis lived all of his life in Cardiff and started photography in the early 1950s.
The change from black and white to colour slides took place in 1959 which was in time to capture steam operation on many lines despite the early dmu change on the Valley trains.

Alan was a generous provider of images to authors and Colour Rail so the standard of his pictures is well known. However there were many pictures that have not been seen and this show is an opportunity to see the railways of South Wales in the period 1959 to 1964.

Two of his pet projects are featured: the JB Auto service from Penarth to Pontypridd and the 7.07 pm train from Newport to Brecon.

There will be much else concentrating on South Wales to enjoy.

Meetings are held at The Old Church Rooms, Park Road, Radyr, CF15 8DF and start at 19:30. Doors open 19:00

Entrance is FREE for RCTS members and a donation of £2 is requested for non members.

Complimentary Tea and coffee are provided.
