Free Trinity-Mirror journalism training in Cardiff 14-15 February 2015February 13, 2015 - Author: Gareth Morlais
I’ve just received this invitation from the Media Trust. It’s for people aged 18-21 years old who might like to contribute of start up a hyperlocal blog like RadyrPost.co.uk. It’s an exciting journalism workshop with the Trinity Mirror newspaper group this weekend in Chapter, Cardiff. Here’s the blurb:
“You will be trained by professional journalists who will equip you with a range of new skills from constructing arguments, story building, photojournalism and Vlogging to enable you to develop engaging and balanced news reports. After the workshop we will connect you with a Trinity Mirror journalist to mentor you to write a news article for a local publication and provide an insight into the industry. It will give you an invaluable hands on experience of reporting and enhance your portfolio of work.
“The training will be interactive, exciting and engaging and will include:
• The art of debating
• Storytelling – how to define and tell a story
• Writing compelling and appealing news stories
• Connecting you with a journalist mentor to provide you with 1-2-1 advice
“The free two day workshop will be held on Saturday 14th February and Sunday 15th February (10am to 3.30pm) in Cardiff (you must be available to attend the full two days). Food and drink will be provided throughout the workshop and we will also cover travel expenses.
